The Regattas Events in London on July

The largest fleet of Metre boats and classic keelboats ever assembled in the UK will converge on Cowes on 22 July. The regattas, run by the Royal London yacht Club, aims to establish the town as the center for classic yacht racing in Northern Europe.

Organized to coincide with the British Yacht Club Regatta, run by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, the event will be followed by the Household Division regatta n the Riyal Squadron regatta. The new events was prompted by the success of the Germany regatta for international Rule held in Cowes in 2007 at which 80 Metre-class boats attended.

Fleet racing will be organized for 6mR and 12mR boats. Other classes may sail in the mixed fleet under a rating system, and a separate start or fleet result will be provided if sufficient numbers attend. The organizers hope that fleets may adopt the events as a regular or occasional slot in their calendar. Moorings have been arranged with Shepherds Wharf and the Harbormaster, and mainland facilities will be organized for launching and crossing to Cowes. A full social program is planned bob Miller will act Chief Race Officer.
