Tassen Museum Bags and Purses is located in the centre of Amsterdam, near Rembrandt square, in a beautiful characteristic canal house, dating back to 1664. Visiting this unique museum you can enjoy 500 years of history of the Western lady’s bag.

There is a widest a collection of more than 4000 bags, purses, trunks, pouches, cases and accessories there, dating from the late Middle Ages until today. The Museum of Bags and Purses in Amsterdam is the largest of its kind in the world.

The collection highlights the bag in all its variety of forms, functions and materials, while also emphasising the story that each piece has to tell in terms of style and fashion and the effects that it has had upon developments in society.
